Transpose Operator will be back!
On August 6th 2018, Transpose Operator will return!
Transpose Operator's relaunch is related to my newly launched Patreon.
Transpose Operator was my first webcomic, and as many of these projects go, it got away from me in terms of scale and scope. This does not mean that I gave up on it, but I put the comic on permanent hiatus. I am now re-imagining the story as more text based, and will combine illustrations, comics, and prose. This is a Patreon exclusive and will be available to those paying $5+. Eventually I will make a new website for Transpose Operator in it's new form, but chapters will always go up on Patreon first, no matter what, so you will be able to read it before everyone else on the internet!
Chapter 1 will debut August 6th, and there will be a new complete chapter approximately every 2 months.
Transpose Operator is a far future sci-fi story taking place on a unknown planet. Humanity and synthetic lifeforms are fighting a losing battle against the Cult of the Red Queen, whose followers are infected with a possession that science cannot explain. These few vestiges that continue to fight are known as The Resistance, whose members are the last sane humans and synthetic lifeforms on the planet. They fight not only for their own survival, but the survival of all life on their planet.
"My ears were ringing from the blast, my vision was blurred, the scene before me was chaotic and unclear. When my vision came back into focus, I could see a large portion of the hallway I had just been running down was now gone, and in its place was a gaping hole revealing the destruction outside.
Plumes of smoke, gunfire, screams… The war was here… the war had come to the capitol… and it had been Max and I who had let them in. As I looked out through the missing hallway I could see the fighting below, I could see my colleagues dying and I had to ask myself… had we done the right thing?"
There will be a lot of violence and mature themes in this story, so it is a 15+ recommended rating. If there is something in particular I need to warn readers of about the contents of the story I will preface that given chapter with a warning, so you will not be caught unaware of the content.
I'm super excited to be bringing Transpose Operator back and being able to tell this story again! Come join me on patreon and be a part of bringing it to life as well!

Eris Tanner
I've been working on a new webcomic that I'll be launching in a few months, and in preparation I wanted to do a series of posts about the characters and the story I'll be creating. I wanted to start with Eris Tanner, who is the main character. She's an athletic space explorer who's been training for the journey of going into space and discovering new worlds ever since she was a kid.
For the most part I knew what I wanted Eris to look like since the beginning, but there were several different drafts of the story, one of which started off with Eris on a hospital satellite ship, she's wearing a kind of futuristic hospital gown in this first image.

I did a bunch of other sketches figuring out her overall look as well.
When I got the final draft of the story done, I was able to focus more on the outfit design and think about how future humans might dress, and how Eris in particular might dress. I went through a bunch of different ideas, here they are below.
Eventually I settled on a kind of bodysuit with a coat over it, and did a few variations on it.
The final lineup for the design is below
I wanted her final outfit to give her flexibility and also have the ability to function as a space suit or be worn under a larger space suit. The jacket also gave her the ability to conceal a weapon as well which would be useful in the action scenes.
Eris is an optimist, an idealist, and is a very kind person, however she's also a professional and can be serious minded when it's needed. She's also a natural leader and good at making new friends. She serves as the 2nd in command on the interstellar space ship she's been assigned to.

Space Mechanics
My friend Molly ( http://www.passingfair.com/ ) and I were working on a short story project a few months ago. We ended up shelving it for various reasons, but it would be fun to come back to it someday in the future maybe. Here's some of the character designs I did for it. It was basically a story about space mechanics solving a mystery!
Here's the final line-up of the main cast:
Alta is a mechanic who worked on spaceship hulls, I flip-flopped between short hair and long hair, but with Molly's help we ended up with the long haired version:
Talmit is a mechanic who works on the interiors of spaceships:
The commander was in charge of everything on the space-station that both he and Alta live on:
I had a lot of fun creating these characters and working with Molly, hopefully we'll revive this someday or work on something else in the future.

I recently contributed to an anthology called TANAKDERE Vol 3, it's all about Daring Dames, so if you like female protagonists you should definitely go check it out! I have a 7pg story called SPROUT that is along the lines of Transpose Operator, but actually not because it's far more hopeful than Transpose Operator... basically I am telling you to GO BUY IT because it is a cool anthology with a ton of awesome contributors, including Alicia Muhm, my MCAD compatriot, and fellow Periscope intern bro Matt Rainwater.
Here is the cover again!
