Horace and Melena

Photobucket
Horace is the captain and Melena is the navigator of the Alto Airship. They're married btw.
Horace is basically naive and child-like with a bad sense of direction(he's constantly getting lost), he's extremely positive and thinks the best of people. He was greatly influenced by Melena's father who was a sky pirate, so he decided to try and take after him and become a great sky pirate himself. He was given the opportunity to do just that when Melena's father gave them the Alto Airship as a wedding gift once he got a bigger and better ship himself. Horace greatly wants a wanted poster with a big bounty on it, but try as he might he's too good of a guy to do anything bad enough to get one... that's all going to change though when he and his crew meet Adele...

Melena is the one wearing the pants in this relationship if you couldn't tell already. She's the ship's navigator which is a good thing because of Horace's terrible sense of direction. She's a no-nonsense type of person who you definitely don't want to get mad as she can become rather scary. She's been a sky pirate all of her life as both of her parents were sky pirates themselves. Melena is normally the one getting the crew jobs. She met Horace when her father's ship was getting repairs and convinced her father to let him join the crew, a few years later they were married. The go around now just adventuring and trying to get enough money to survive, picking up Galilee(Their Mechanic), and Darcy(Their Gunner/Muscle). They're very much like a family unit rather than just crew members.

These are their very very old first designs. Melena's hair changed quite a bit, but Horace is basically the same.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
(Then and Now)
See the difference? and I'm willing to bet that Horace's book is upside down.

Photobucket
And this is what I meant by upsetting Melena is always a bad idea.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
When they were younger.

Photobucket
This was the first picture I did of her new hairstyle.

Photobucket
Haha! Horace's serious face. It's actually pretty convincing...

Photobucket
These are some newer pictures I drew of them, The Melena one is of her when she was younger. I also realize I've been forgetting to draw all of Horace's earrings, he has like 4 in each ear, 2 studs and 2 rings.

Photobucket
Silly character MEME of Horace.
The important scene was about when Horace first noticed Melena as she was waiting for the repairs to be done.

Horace and Melena appear in the Arc after Nephris1(there are several Nephris Arcs), so pretty early in the story. They originally capture Adele for the large bounty that's on her head, but once Lillia get's captured they all end up going to save her, and Adele becomes a crew member. You can just imagine how happy Horace is to have someone with such a large bounty on his crew.

I still have to come up with the offical design of the Alto Airship. I'm terrible at these kinds of drawings so you're going to have to bear with me and wait for them.

Anyway, so that Was Horace and Melena, sorry it took me so long to do a post about them!

Julius

Photobucket

Julius Raleigh is the leader of the country of Nephris. He's in his early 50's and is a rather quiet man. He knows how to lead after watching his wife for so long. Since Nephris is a Matriarcal society he is only temporarily leading until his daughter comes of age and can succeed him.
His wife died giving birth to Ezekiel. He has three children who he values very much. Adele looks up to him a great deal, and despite the fact that she's not his real daughter she takes after him quite a lot. He has a good sense of justice and standing up for the little guy, and tends to value others before himself.
He's actually quite popular among his people. His foreign policies to stay neutral and not get involved with Dimasen has kept the country out of two wars. It seems that a much larger war is brewing in the shadows which he intends to shield his country from as well.

When I was creating Julius I knew that I wanted to have a strong leader and make him a family man. Unfortunately both of those things don't mix too well, but his kids are understanding, or in Alexander's case he doesn't really care. He actually has a rather interesting back story about how he meets his wife the previous Queen of Nephris. But I'm not sure when I'll be able to tell it. I had an idea about a journal being found or something, but we'll see.

Photobucket
As for his design, it hasn't really changed at all, I apologize about not having the old pictures to show :(. His suit is going to change however as I wanted to make some unique fashion for Nephris, and the different countries in general. The above is basically what the suit will look like.

It's been 3 years....

Photobucket
I feel really bad about this actually. I was waiting till I worked out all of the main plot points before I started making pages, which I started on this summer. I will pledge to you now though that I will have at least 10 pages done by the end of Christmas break (if not more) for you to read, so look forward to it!
I warn you though, it's going to be a long series, but I hope you can all stay with me and read about Adele and crew and all of their adventures in the future.

Galilee

Photobucket

Galilee is the lifeblood of the Alto Airship. She's the mechanic and makes sure that everthing is running properly. She's also very aware of their money situation and doesn't let anyone spend money on anything they shouldn't especially because ship parts come first.
When I was creating her first off, I just wanted a flirty sort of girl character to bounce off of Adele, originally she liked Horace but there was just no reason for it. Her old design was terrible to say the least and I just didn't like her at all. When I re-imagined her she actually became a fleshed out character and was far more believable and I actually liked her.
Now she is someone who is still flirty, but not without reason, she's stylish but isn't afraid to get dirty and has a passion for the way that things and people work. She's looking for a rich guy in particular as well since she's spent so much of her life being poor, this is where the mix-up with Claus happens, she assumes that just because he's a doctor he's rich-so she ends up getting attached to him for that reason initially. She and Darcy have a sort of brother sister relationship, and she and Melena have a sort of sisterly relationship as well. She views Horace as a child- but he's still the captain and she'll follow him and his ship wherever they go. She's very smart and is often times underestimated. She has quite the temper too and occasionally hits others in a comical way when she's angry or frustrated.
Her family life was fairly simple, Her father was a great mechanic and she learned from him since she was a child. Her mother ran the storefront while her father worked in their repair shop. Horace and Melena found her soon after they had gotten the Alto from Melena's father because it had broken down. She ended up working on their ship and Horace offered her the job which she gladly took hoping for a life of adventure and traveling... little did she know what she was getting into...

Photobucket
Her basic coveralls design, she kinda just puts her hair up haphazardly when working on the engine using a bunch of clips. Most of the time the coveralls are well, covered in engine grease and such and never look this nice. I'm not exactly married to the colors on these however...

Photobucket
This was her initial re-design after I threw out the horrible old version. I hate the colors and the outfit wasn't completely working yet. Also her hair was kinda orange at first, but it's brown now.

Photobucket
And this is her final design, the colors and outfit design reflect her personality much better than the previous one. It's going to be fun to design different outfits for various arc for her since she's cute and likes fashion-unlike Adele who has absolutely no idea. But this is her default outfit.

Photobucket
And a purple version for fun!

Anyway, that's basically Galilee in a nutshell. She's one of the 4 original crew members of the Alto, and basically without her it wouldn't be up in the air.

I'm going to try and do this for Horace and Melena as well, but I think it may end up being a joint post for the both of them.

Also if you notice the layout template has changed and there is a top image now. I'm still not married to the layout so expect it to change often... I'll let you know when I have a final one.

A Day at Work

Photobucket

I posted the sketch of this on the Kindrid Graphic Novel blog, so here it is now in full color. This is from the first chapter when Adele joins the investigation team headed by Ezekiel to find out where her missing group members are along with all the other people that have disappeared within the city.

It's a little big and the edges get cut off so click for a full view.

Looking

Photobucket

WOW.... have not posted in awhile, this will be the first of many to make up for lost time. In my absense I have also been fleshing out the "supernatural" story, it has no title yet so I apologize for that. I will either post news on it here or make a blog for it and post a link, we'll see. Basically as soon as I orginize the storyline better and come up with a title It will get it's own blog, so look forward to it!

Also I never made a Halloween image and am crying over it...
