I had talked about this in earlier posts, but my previous comic project was a historical fiction piece.
Here's the concept for it :D
Wait a minute.... that's Baccano!
Yes, my original concept was to simply adapt this scene from Baccano where Firo and Luck get shot up in a bookstore, and of course since they're immortal at this point, they don't die and instead nab one of the shooters so they can "question" him accordingly.
Terry didn't want us to do something that was already established, so I was unable to do this concept. It's unfortunate since I haven't worked off of any existing thing in any of my assignments and was looking forward to the chance to use this one.
so instead I came up with my own story which was naturally WAY bigger than the assignment and so I only did a portion of it.
Thumbnails and Script.
Hayden is the main character of the story. He was abandoned as a baby and picked up by an old mysterious man who raised him.
When thinking about him I knew that I wanted a positive main character, but also someone who was boyish and stupid. He's someone who's serious when he needs to be but for the most part is laid back. He's also facinated by scary things and thinks they're really cool.
He's immortal due to certain circumstances, and will most likely remain looking the way he is for the rest of his life without aging. He's about 16 years old.
His final design didn't involve the vest.
Glenn is one of the other main characters. He's after Georgiano for his own reasons and joins up with Hayden and Charlotte simply because he knows if he's going to take out someone strong, doing it in a team is the best option. His past will remain a mystery for the time being.
When creating Glenn the first thing I thought was, "I want a manly character!", but I wanted him to be able to play off of the other characters, he ended up becoming someone who gets angry at petty things like when Hayden does something stupid, but for the most part is serious. He also has a fear of women and freaks out if he gets too close to them, especially when they're scantily clad, which is unfortunate since hes straight, needless to say he doesn't get many dates. He's about 25 years old.
His clothing design changed quite a bit, an instead of using 2 swords he ended up using a single pistol.

Charlotte is another one of the main characters. She's also the first person to join Hayden. He ens up saving her for various reasons, and they both have a common goal so they team up.
when creating Charlotte I knew I wanted to have severe odds stacked against her. she's timid, scared, young, and all alone until she meets Hayden. Normally she ends up getting saved too instead of changing her circumstances herself.
She's about 14 years old.
Being a girl in this time period was different, there isn't as much pressure put on you to "stand up for yourself" and such, and with her being so scared in the first place she has even less motivation to do so. Throughout the story I had wanted her to change to try and overcome the problems that she has and ultimately become a member of the team that they could depend on.
since her hair style was something I made up and not true of the period, for the comic that I drew she has a more simplified hair style. But the one above will be the final one that I'll use when I proceed further with this story.
Marlene is the 4th person to join the team and does not appear in the comic yet. when she first shows up, you probably won't be able to recognize her, but I'm hoping that will make things more interesting.
I knew with her I wanted to create someone outgoing who could contrast Charlotte. She's also really strong, but lacks any technique so when she fights theres always a lot of damage.
Like Hayden she's also immortal, but the side effect she has in exchange for this is pretty bad, unlike Hayden who as of yet doesn't seem to have one. She's unable to go out in the sunlight which makes it difficult since the group travels very often. She can be kinda stupid like Hayden and ends up joining in on his antics at times much to Glenn and Charlotte's dismay. she also likes to tease people, especially Glenn with his fear of women. she's also around 18 or 19 years old.
the above design is going to be close to her default, but the outfit she first appears in will have to remain a mystery as well.
When i was first coming up with Marlene before I knew quite what she was all about I came up with this design. *sigh* it's pretty far off, but she still kept the brute strength and vampiric powers.
Really sketchy "Moon Viewing" sketch. This was drawn since a few friends and I were watching the eclipse that occured a month or so ago decided it would be fun to do a prompt of our characters doing it too.
I kinda got disinterested in finishing it since I realized you couldn't actually see the moon so they were just staring at the sky. Guess I could have had it reflected in th windows, ah well.
Glenn looks the weirdest and their feet are all cut off. Just a random group picture.
Please ignore Glenn since he looks terrible, but this was the first drawing of Brewstone.

Well, that's all I've got for this story so far. I'm seriously considering making this the story that I focus on after Meggido. It's got more of a shonen feel to it and would have more humor... but probably more gore as well -_-'
